Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for Battery Network (BATTNET)

Background
This notice constitutes a combined synopsis and Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for the acquisition of research and development in accordance with 35.016, Broad Agency Announcement. The BAA will remain open for five years with a ceiling of $20 Million. The objective of the program is to improve Department of Defense (DoD) battery logistics by leveraging advanced manufacturing technologies for the U.S. industrial base.

Work Details
The work involves advancing manufacturing and logistics solutions to improve the industrial capability to deliver batteries to the warfighter in a ready-to-use state with improved performance, quality, safety, and shelf life; and lower cost and lead time. The areas of interest include manufacturing and automation innovations, optimization of design for manufacturability, process improvements, advancement of manufacturing readiness for alternative supplies, improvements to the domestic battery supply chain, and transfer commercial technology for use in DLA Batteries. The process for obtaining a possible award under this BAA consists of three steps: STEP I: Submission of White Paper, STEP II: Submission of a technical proposal only if requested by the DLA Contracting Officer, STEP III: Submission of a cost proposal either concurrent with or after submission of a technical proposal only if requested by the DLA.

Period of Performance
The BAA will remain open for five years.
