Background
The Birmingham VA Medical Center (BVAMC) is seeking to procure Critical Care Transportation Services to support its mission of providing high-quality care to veterans. This contract aims to furnish air and ground critical care transport services for beneficiaries of the BVAMC located at 700 South 19th Street, Birmingham, AL 35233. The goal is to ensure timely and efficient transportation for veterans requiring critical medical attention.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide 24-hour Critical Care Transport services using specially equipped ambulances staffed with a physician, registered nurse, and respiratory therapist as required. Key responsibilities include:
1. Responding to urgent/emergent critical care transport calls within a 15-minute response time.
2. Furnishing all necessary labor, materials, insurance, licenses, and equipment for safe transportation.
3. Providing transportation services seven days a week, including holidays, from and to locations designated by the VA Medical Center.
4. Maintaining communication between the contractor's dispatcher/supervisor and all staff engaged in patient transport.
5. Ensuring compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local laws including ADA standards.
6. Not subcontracting any work related to patient transports.
7. Providing backup vehicles in case of breakdowns or service disruptions.
8. Preparing medical reports during transport and ensuring proper release of patients to nursing staff at destination points.

Period of Performance
The contract period spans from May 1, 2025 through April 30, 2031, consisting of a base year followed by four option years.

The services will be performed primarily at the Birmingham VA Medical Center located at 700 South 19th Street, Birmingham, AL 35233.
