Description

RAF Lakenheath requires the purchase and installation of upgraded components to the existing Aircraft Bird Strike Avoidance Radar. The updated system requires the capability to detect and track bird flight patterns, as well as non-bird flight patterns (drones/multi-copters, hobby sized aircraft/gliders).

Background
The Department of the Air Force, specifically the 48th Fighter Wing (USAFE), is seeking to upgrade its current radar system to provide more advanced support for avian detection on and around the flightline at RAF Lakenheath.
This upgrade aims to enhance safety by improving the detection of birds and non-bird flight patterns, such as drones and hobby-sized aircraft.

Work Details
The Contractor shall upgrade the existing Avian radar system at RAF Lakenheath. This upgrade shall include:
- Bird & Drone Detection Radars (BDR-DDR) with AI drone target classification system & DroneWatcher C2 data system.
- Two Radar-controlled Electro-Optic, Infrared (EOIR) camera systems with a dedicated video analytics server for automatic video tracking and target identification.
- A DroneWatcher RF (Radio Frequency) Omni Directional UAS scanner integrated with the C2 system.
The contractor will install all items at either the existing radar site, on the tower cab, or both as dictated by mission requirements.
Ancillary hardware (nuts, bolts, screws, etc.) necessary for installation must be included. The contractor is also expected to set up and calibrate the entire radar system and associated software suite.
The current system in use is the Merlin System by Detect Inc, which includes horizontal radar, vertical radar, and normal terrain information.
