Background
The proposed contract action is for structural repairs to Berth 13 at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, ME. The project aims to restore deck loading capacity and extend the usable life of the structure, which was originally constructed in the 1940s.

The facility includes concrete piles, a concrete wharf deck, and a steel reaction frame with timber decking along the outboard face of the wharf. The total approximate construction area is about 25,000 square feet.

Work Details
The work will involve structural repairs to Berth 13, including: full (~1,600 SF) and partial demolition of various portions of the concrete wharf deck; outage coordination; removal and replacement of utilities obstructing concrete repairs; repairs to the reaction frame; landside fascia beam repairs; crane rail beam repairs; pile cap repairs; pile jacket repairs; and anode repairs.

All demolition and construction activities must prevent debris from entering the river. Repairs to the underside of the wharf deck, pile jackets, and anodes will require capabilities to work from barges and floating platforms while adhering to strict safety protocols.

Period of Performance
The completion time for this contract is 700 calendar days after award.
