Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs, National Cemetery Administration is issuing a solicitation for grounds maintenance services at Beaufort National Cemetery. The goal of this contract is to ensure the cemetery grounds are maintained in a safe, visually appealing, and healthy condition for visitors and personnel. This includes addressing issues caused by environmental factors and maintaining the integrity of the burial sites.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for refilling, compacting, and leveling sunken cremains grave sites or small areas needing ground repair with suitable soil to match existing adjacent graves and reestablishing turfgrass. Specific tasks include:
- Regularly checking the cemetery for holes and washouts, reporting findings to the COR for verification.
- Filling sunken cremation sites or holes within 72 hours of discovery, ensuring repaired sites are visually appealing and level with adjacent areas.
- Securing divots and holes with safety barriers until repairs are completed.
- Reutilizing sod whenever possible; using only Zeon Zoysia sod with 98-99% purity.
- Maintaining all sodded areas through mowing and watering, replacing any damaged sod at the contractor's expense.
- Keeping a Sunken Cremation Sites/Small Area Grounds Repair Log to be submitted monthly to the COR.
- Following strict guidelines for fertilization based on soil tests conducted quarterly, applying fertilizers during the growing season (March through December) as per recommendations.
