Background
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is issuing this contract for swimming beach water quality testing at Hop Brook Lake, Middlebury, CT. The mission of the agency is to ensure the safety and quality of recreational waters for public use. The goal of this contract is to provide necessary labor, equipment, and materials for consistent monitoring of water quality at the designated swimming beach.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide all necessary labor, equipment, and materials to perform swimming beach water quality testing at Hop Brook Lake. Specific tasks include:
- Conducting weekly water sampling starting one week prior to Memorial Day weekend through the week after Labor Day (approximately 17 weeks), collecting two samples for E. coli during each visit (totaling 34 samples).
- Samples must be collected at fixed sampling stations at a depth of approximately 3 to 4 feet using a 125ml bottle provided by the laboratory.
- Following Connecticut State guidelines for sample collection, storage, and transport.
- Monitoring for cyanobacteria presence throughout the recreation season, with potential additional testing as directed by the Technical Point of Contact.
- Preparing a site-specific Accident Prevention Plan and conducting daily safety meetings.
- Ensuring compliance with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Occupational Health Requirements (EM 385-1-1) and all applicable OSHA regulations.

Period of Performance
The period of performance is from contract award through April 30, 2026, with options for two additional years from May 1, 2026 through April 30, 2027 and from May 1, 2027 through September 30, 2027.

Place of Performance
Hop Brook Lake Project Office located at 4 Straits Turnpike, Middlebury, CT. The Recreation Area with swimming beach is located approximately half a mile north at the intersection of Route 188 and Route 63.
