Description

In accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 10.002(b) (2) (i), this notice is issued for the purpose of conducting market research. Market research is being conducted to determine if there are potential businesses with the capacity and experience to perform the required work. This notice is not to be misconstrued as a Request for Proposal or Quotation. This notice does not represent a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or award a contract. There is no solicitation at this time.

This request for capability information does not constitute a request for proposals; submission of any information in response to this market survey is purely voluntary; the government assumes no financial responsibility for any costs incurred. Acknowledgment of responses may not be made and respondents will not be notified regarding the results of the Government's evaluation of the information received. The determination to proceed with the acquisition is within the discretion of the Government. Telephone inquiries will not be accepted.

Background
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is seeking to procure a Batch Microwave Digestion System to enhance its mission of protecting American workers and developing new analytical methods. The need arises from the current limitations of the existing sequential CEM SPD systems, which can only digest smaller samples one at a time. The acquisition aims to improve efficiency by enabling the digestion of multiple samples simultaneously, thereby supporting OSHA's analytical capabilities.

Work Details
The contract involves the purchase and installation of two CEM MARS 6 microwave digestion systems at the OSHA Technical Center (OTC). Key specifications include:
- Adjustable microwave power settings ranging from 0 to 1800 watts or higher.
- Capacity to process a minimum of 12 digestion vessels simultaneously.
- Precise temperature control up to 300°C with an accuracy of ±1°C.
- Robust pressure control mechanisms with limits up to 100 bar and an accuracy of ±0.5 bar.
- Digestion vessels made from high-quality, chemically resistant materials that are easy to clean and maintain.
- Safety features including over-temperature protection, pressure relief mechanisms, door interlocks, and emergency shut-off.
- An advanced digital control system with a user-friendly interface, programmable methods, and data logging capabilities. Additionally, manufacturers must provide a 12-month warranty against defects in workmanship or material from the installation delivery date.

Period of Performance
The delivery of products is expected within 90 days after contract award.
