Background
The Bald Mountain Stewardship project is issued by the USDA Forest Service, specifically for the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, McCloud Ranger District in California. The mission of this contract is to enhance forest health and reduce wildfire risks through stewardship contracting, which allows for the aggregation of various land management activities.

The goal is to create a 600-foot-wide ridgeline fuel break to improve ecosystem restoration and resource protection.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for several key tasks:
1. Create a 600-foot-wide ridgeline fuel break using mastication and tethered mastication techniques.
2. Fall dead standing trees as part of hazard tree management.
3. Establish two helispots for firefighting operations.
4. Repair any damage caused to access roads during operations.

Specific examples of work include:
A. Masticating brush and small trees over an estimated area of 509 acres.
B. Falling dead standing trees over an estimated area of 509 acres.
C. Creating two helispots, each covering an estimated area of 1 acre.
D. Maintaining or establishing access over an estimated distance of 7 miles.

Period of Performance
The contract period will commence upon award and extend through February 1, 2029.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed approximately 9 miles south of McCloud, California, specifically in designated sections T 38 N, R 3 W, S: 24, 25, 26, and 35; T 37 N, R 3 W, S: 11, 14, and 23.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be eligible under the R5 Pacific Southwest Stewardship BPA and demonstrate relevant experience in similar projects within the last three years. They must provide a technical proposal that outlines their approach to the work activities including methods, equipment to be used, qualifications of key personnel, and a plan for utilizing local labor and resources.
