Background
The B241 Remediation Project at Travis Air Force Base, CA, is initiated to address the abatement of asbestos and lead materials, as well as the replacement of windows in Building 241.
The project aims to ensure a safe and compliant environment by removing hazardous materials and updating the facility's infrastructure. The work is overseen by the 60th Contracting Squadron, which emphasizes adherence to safety regulations and building codes throughout the project.

Work Details
The contractor is responsible for all aspects of the project, including:
1. Complete demolition and removal of existing flooring, HVAC systems (including ductwork), and all communication and electrical conduit within the designated abatement area.
2. Abatement and removal of lead-based paint or coatings on walls and door frames, along with other items in affected areas. Contaminated materials must be recycled with certification provided to the appropriate office.
3. Removal of asbestos mastic from surfaces, followed by encapsulation on concrete floors once they are smooth.
4. Conducting air clearance sampling with results submitted at final inspection.
5. Notification to OSHA for this Class 2 non-friable asbestos project, ensuring all work is performed by certified asbestos workers.
6. Replacement of 44 windows at Bldg. 241 Bay B, including demolition of existing windows and installation of new bronze-colored aluminum framed windows with insulated glass that match existing sizes closely (approximately 5' x 3'). All work must comply with applicable building codes and standards.
