Background
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), specifically the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), is issuing a Notice of Intent to award a sole source Cost (No-Fee) Indefinite-Delivery, Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) contract to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS). This contract aims to provide independent scientific, technical, engineering, and advisory services to support NNSA and DOE missions. The NAS is recognized for its unique qualifications in delivering objective and high-quality advisory services that are essential for the agency's program requirements.

Work Details
The contractor will perform various tasks including:

- Informing NNSA and DOE of relevant scientific and technical data;
- Providing expert views on NNSA & DOE research and programmatic activities;
- Applying scientific and engineering judgments to public policy;
- Contributing to the vitality and productivity of NNSA’s & DOE’s scientific enterprise;
- Supporting extended research and development communities;
- Examining, experimenting, and reporting on subjects related to NNSA or DOE missions as requested.

Period of Performance
The anticipated period of performance for this contract is from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2036, spanning a total of ten years.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at the National Academy of Sciences located at 500 Fifth Street NW, Washington D.C., 20001-2736.
