Army - Installation of Handicap Accessible Double Doors - MRAS

The General Services Administration (GSA), on behalf of the United States Army, is conducting market research for a project at the McLaughlin Air National Guard Base in Charleston, West Virginia. This initiative aims to enhance accessibility and safety at Building 141 by installing handicap-accessible door operators and replacing existing double doors. The overarching goal is to ensure that facilities meet modern accessibility standards while maintaining security and operational efficiency.

The scope of work involves several key tasks, primarily focused on improving the entrance of Building 141. The contractor will be responsible for installing an electric feed from the atrium light to power handicap door openers for two sets of double doors. These doors must be equipped with push buttons to facilitate access for individuals with disabilities. In addition to installing these features, the contractor will replace both door sets and their frames while reusing existing lock cylinders from the current exterior doors.

Special considerations are outlined for daily debris removal and adherence to safety protocols, especially concerning operations that may produce sparks or flames such as welding or cutting. Contractors must obtain necessary permits from the Base Fire Department before commencing any such activities. Waste disposal should comply with all relevant regulations, with an emphasis on recycling materials where possible. A final cleanup is required before project acceptance, ensuring all construction debris is removed from the site.

Contractors are expected to submit a detailed job plan within five days of contract award and complete all work within five days following the issuance of a Notice to Proceed.
