This announcement is for the selection of Request for Qualifications. To seek firms qualified to render professional design support for multi-disciplinary Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ)-Architectural and Engineering (A-E) planning and design projects for Smithsonian Institution Facilities; including museums, zoological park, research facilities, gardens, offices, retail, and food service facilities. Eighty to ninety percent of work is anticipated to be in the Washington, DC metropolitan area including Maryland and Virginia. The remaining work is anticipated to be in other geographical locations where Smithsonian Institution facilities are located including Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Panama.

Background
The Smithsonian Institution is seeking qualified firms to provide professional design support for multi-disciplinary Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Architectural and Engineering (A-E) planning and design projects.

The goal of this contract is to enhance the facilities of the Smithsonian, which include museums, zoological parks, research facilities, gardens, offices, retail, and food service facilities.

The majority of the work will occur in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, with additional projects in various states and Panama.

Work Details
The scope of services includes comprehensive planning and design for new construction, building renovations, tenant fit-out, landscape design, facility improvements, and interior space planning.

Specific tasks include:
- Facility and project comprehensive planning
- Architectural programming
- Site and geotechnical investigations
- Stakeholder engagement
- Site planning
- Conceptual design
- Facilities assessment including cultural landscape assessments
- Sustainability planning including climate hazard risk assessments
- Presentations for project reviews by regulatory bodies
- Multidisciplinary development of contract documents for various engineering systems
- Cost estimating for facility design projects
- Project sequencing
- Value engineering
- Code compliance reviews
- Preparation of reports and studies.

Post-design services may include construction bid support, site visits, construction administration, shop drawing reviews, technical assistance, commissioning/start-up support, and preparation of as-built drawings.

Period of Performance
The base IDIQ contracts will be for a period of one year with nine one-year options available.

Place of Performance
The primary location for work will be in the Washington, DC metropolitan area including Maryland and Virginia. Additional work may occur in Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Panama.
