Background
The Indian Health Service (IHS), Nashville Area Office is issuing this solicitation for Archeological Survey Services to support the Pamunkey Indian Tribe in King William, Virginia. The purpose of this contract is to conduct an archeological survey as part of the approval requirements from the State of Virginia Department of Historic Resources for a proposed Modular/Mobile Clinic intended to provide localized healthcare for the citizens of the Pamunkey Reservation.

This project is essential for ensuring compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and to assess any potential impacts on archaeological resources due to the installation of water and sewer facilities related to single-family homes.

Work Details
The contractor shall perform a Phase 2 archaeological survey which includes:
1. A Comprehensive Review of Available Archaeological and Historical Data;
2. A comprehensive review of all past archaeological research within and near the project site(s);
3. Conducting an Archaeological Survey that involves:
a. Description of project methodology;
b. Presentation of research results including:
i. location and description of newly identified archaeological resources revealed through survey,
ii. soil descriptions with notes on soil layers, features, and overall site integrity,
iii. artifact inventory of material recovered during fieldwork,
iv. overlay of historical and archaeological map data;
c. Recommendations for future research and potential avoidance/mitigation strategies for confirmed archaeological resources;
4. Delivering all items and artifacts of archaeological value to the tribal office or specified location by the tribe. The work includes furnishing all labor, tools, equipment, and materials necessary to conduct the survey at one land-lease site located at 1054 Pocahontas Trail, King William, VA.
