Annual Trail Maintenance Nez Perce Clearwater National Forest

Background
The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest requires annual trail opening and maintenance on Forest Service trails. The work includes logging out, drainage maintenance, and rock removal on non-wilderness and wilderness trails as described in the technical specifications. Slide maintenance and tread repair are required in connection with uprooted trees. Contractors shall be held responsible for all downed trees; there will be NO tree counting. However, trees felled by unusual, extreme wind events are outside the scope of this contract.
Slide maintenance/tread repair (outside of that referred to above) and brushing are not standard trail opening/maintenance requirements but may be authorized by separate orders as needed and negotiated under the rates provided in Items 17-19. The Contractor(s) shall furnish all labor, supervision, equipment, and materials to perform all operations necessary to accomplish the work in accordance with the contract terms, conditions, specifications, drawings, and contract attachments/exhibits. This solicitation will result in the award of multiple firm fixed-priced contracts. Each resultant award will require performance of trail maintenance work for the Forest in a specific geographic area as defined by the Item descriptions and maps provided as attachments to the contract. Only one contractor will be awarded work for each geographic area. This project is one of the implementation projects of the Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Project (CFLRP). The goal of the CFLRP project is to utilize collaborative, science-based ecosystem restoration techniques to improve watershed function while encouraging ecological, economic, and social sustainability with an emphasis on providing local employment opportunities. This project is also within the Central Idaho Complex Priority Trail Maintenance area.

Work Details
The work includes annual trail opening and maintenance on Forest Service trails which involves tasks such as logging out, drainage maintenance, rock removal on non-wilderness and wilderness trails as well as slide maintenance and tread repair in connection with uprooted trees. Additionally, contractors may be required to perform slide maintenance/tread repair and brushing under separate orders if needed.

The Period of Performance for this contract is from 06/01/2023 to 04/30/2028.

The geographic locations where the contract will be performed include North Fork District items 1 through 6 within Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest.
