Angeles National Forest Bear Divide Paving

Background
The Angeles National Forest, managed by the U.S. Forest Service, is undertaking this contract to replace damaged pavements on Santa Clara Divide Road and at the Bear Divide Fire Station.

This project aims to restore access to public lands that have been closed due to safety concerns following atmospheric river events in 2022 and 2023. The road serves as a critical route for recreational users and internal fire response activities.

Work Details
The contract encompasses the following tasks:
- Replacement of damaged pavements on 3N17.7 Santa Clara Divide Rd and at the Bear Divide Fire Station.
- Provision of all necessary equipment, labor, materials, services, and permits to perform the work as per government specifications.
- Pulverization of all specified road sections followed by replacement with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) Caltrans ½ in. max. Type A, PG 64-16 No RAP.
- Installation of associated pavement markings.
- Replacement and relocation of a gate at the Bear Divide Fire Station and two sections of guardrail along Santa Clara Divide Rd.
- Specific paving requirements include 2 inches of HMA over the new road base except for a designated Helipad area which requires 4 inches of asphalt.
- Road drainage features must be designed to collect flow at a single point and discharge at the toe of the slope; alternative drainage assembly designs may be submitted for consideration.

Period of Performance
The projected start date for this contract is June 1, 2026, with an estimated completion time of 120 calendar days from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will take place within the Angeles National Forest, specifically on Forest Service Road 3N17.7, located near Canyon Country, CA.
