AMPED Proposers Day

Background
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is hosting an in-person Proposers Day to support the AMPED Program Solicitation. The AMPED program aims to innovate scalable semiconductor laser technology, addressing limitations in current laser designs for the Department of War (DoW) and commercial applications.

The event will facilitate interaction among researchers and promote collaboration among organizations with relevant expertise.

Work Details
The Proposers Day will include presentations by DARPA personnel, a technical briefing, and a contracting discussion to outline the objectives of the AMPED program. Key goals include:
- Introducing the science and technology community to the AMPED vision;
- Facilitating interaction among researchers;
- Collecting questions for a Q&A document;
- Promoting teaming arrangements among organizations.

Attendees will engage in a Q&A session, poster session, and breakout meetings with the Program Manager. The AMPED program focuses on overcoming two primary technical challenges:
1) Area scaling for single-mode emission, which involves addressing limitations in traditional semiconductor laser designs;
2) Maximizing power density by minimizing loss, which requires innovative strategies to enhance power conversion efficiency while maintaining beam quality.
