Cobalt iron is a metal alloy that is well suited for use in magnetic applications. This acquisition is for cobalt iron blanks that will comprise the pole bodies of all central arc section dipole magnets within the Advanced Light Source (ALS) Storage Ring (SR), which are being replaced as part of the Advance Light Source Upgrade (ALS-U) project.

This solicitation will be at the discretion of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to fulfill this requirement.

Background
The University of California, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) is seeking proposals for the acquisition of Cobalt Iron (CoFe) Material for the SR Dipole Magnets as part of the Advanced Light Source Upgrade (ALS-U) project. The solicitation is governed by procurement policies and procedures established under the University’s Prime Contract No. DE-AC02-05CH11231 with the U.S. Government, represented by the Department of Energy (DOE).

Work Details
The acquisition is for cobalt iron blanks that will comprise the pole bodies of all central arc section dipole magnets within the Advanced Light Source (ALS) Storage Ring (SR), which are being replaced as part of the ALS-U project.

The Offeror must submit documentation illustrating their approach for satisfying the requirements of this solicitation, including their ability to meet technical specifications, delivery schedule, past performance producing similar products, and quality assurance systems.

Period of Performance
All ordered items should be delivered 35 weeks or sooner after receipt of order (ARO).
