Background
The contract is issued for the Waldron Outlying Airfield located in Corpus Christi, Texas. The primary goal of this contract is to enhance aviation safety by addressing the issue of rubber buildup on runways 18/36 and 13/31, which has become a safety hazard. The contractor is required to provide all necessary supervision, transportation, labor, materials, equipment, and incidental work to complete the tasks outlined in the scope of work.

Work Details
The contractor shall perform the following tasks: remove built-up rubber from runways 18/36 and 13/31 and repaint runway markings. Specific requirements include conducting a site survey to assess existing conditions, coordinating with Airfield Management for access and scheduling, providing necessary safety barricades and markers, maintaining a clean work area to prevent Foreign Object Debris (FOD), and submitting a Paint/Rubber Removal Process Plan for approval.

The contractor must remove approximately 100,000 square feet of rubber from Runway 13 and approximately 60,000 square feet from Runway 31. The removal process must achieve at least 90% removal of visible rubber on Portland cement concrete pavements and 85% on asphaltic concrete pavements. Sandblasting and grinding are not authorized methods for rubber removal.
