Description

PROJECT: AK PFH 58(1), Neck Lake Rd. Reconstruction: NPOWI Hwy.to Marine Access Facility Jct.

LOCATION: 45 miles NW of Coffman Cove, Hyder Census Area, Prince of Wales Island, Alaska

WORK: Work consists of roadway excavation, sub-excavation, soft ground embankment construction (surcharge), grading, rock blasting, riprap placement, rockery, drainage (including large Aquatic Organism Pipes), embankment (including settlement monitoring), placement of aggregate surface course, guardrail installation, erosion control, temporary traffic control, permanent signage, and turf establishment. TENTATIVE COMPLETION DATE: Fall 2026

CONTRACT TYPE: Sealed Bid, Firm-Fixed-Price

ESTIMATED PRICE RANGE: Between $10,000,000 and $20,000,000

Background
The project, AK PFH 58(1), involves the reconstruction of Neck Lake Road from NPOWI Highway to the Marine Access Facility Junction. It is managed by the Western Federal Lands Highway Division, which operates under the mission to improve and maintain transportation infrastructure in federal lands.

The goal of this contract is to enhance road access and safety on Prince of Wales Island, Alaska.

Work Details

- Schedule A - 1.6 miles;
- Schedule B - 2.0 miles;
- Schedule C - 2.4 miles.

Period of Performance
The contract is anticipated to be completed by Fall 2026.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will take place on Prince of Wales Island in the Hyder Census Area of Alaska, approximately 45 miles NW of Coffman Cove.
