PROJECT: AK PFH 58(1), Neck Lake Rd. Reconstruction: NPOWI Hwy.to Marine Access Facility Jct.
LOCATION: 45 miles NW of Coffman Cove, Hyder Census Area, Prince of Wales Island, Alaska
WORK: Work consists of roadway excavation, sub-excavation, soft ground embankment construction (surcharge), grading, rock blasting, riprap placement, rockery, drainage (including large Aquatic Organism Pipes), embankment (including settlement monitoring), placement of aggregate surface course, guardrail installation, erosion control, temporary traffic control, permanent signage, and turf establishment. Background
The project titled AK PFH 58(1) involves the reconstruction of Neck Lake Road from NPOWI Highway to the Marine Access Facility Junction. It is located approximately 45 miles northwest of Coffman Cove in the Hyder Census Area on Prince of Wales Island, Alaska. The goal of this contract is to improve roadway infrastructure to enhance access and safety for local communities and facilitate transportation.

Work Details
The scope of work includes various construction tasks such as:
- Roadway excavation
- Sub-excavation
- Soft ground embankment construction (surcharge)
- Grading
- Rock blasting
- Riprap placement
- Rockery installation
- Drainage improvements, including large Aquatic Organism Pipes
- Embankment construction with settlement monitoring
- Placement of aggregate surface course

The project consists of three bid schedules:
1. Schedule A – 1.6 miles of road reconstruction.

The anticipated period for performance is expected to extend until Fall 2026.
