Air Force Weapons Research, Development and Test

Background
The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL/RWK) is issuing a contract to Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab (JHU/APL) for weapons research, development, and testing. The goal is to advance kinetic and non-kinetic weapons technology development.

Work Details
JHU/APL will conduct fundamental, applied, and advanced research to enable the development of kinetic and non-kinetic weapons technologies. Tasks include designing models and maintaining hardware and software tools for technology and engineering analysis, systems engineering, and system-of-systems engineering analysis.

JHU/APL will develop rapid cutting-edge weapon solutions, research propulsion weapons, radar/Infrared (IR)/Electro-Optical (EO), Electronic Warfare (EW), Electronic Protection (EP), Electronic Attack (EA), sensors, guidance, controls, tail kits, UAVs, autonomous systems, non-kinetic and kinetic payloads/warheads including high explosive packages. They will also work on Operational Flight Programs (OFPs) with autonomy capabilities.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over five years with RDT&E funds provided.
