Background
The VA Medical Center in Topeka, Kansas, is dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare to veterans. To support this mission, the facility intends to partner with an Architect/Engineer (A/E) firm for the design and completion of a project aimed at replacing boilers and enhancing the existing boiler plant. This procurement is specifically set aside for Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) firms, in compliance with federal regulations.

Work Details
The project involves renovating and expanding the existing boiler plant (Building 40) to facilitate the installation of new boilers and supporting equipment. Key tasks include:
1. Designing a code-compliant installation for new boilers with N+1 steam generation capability.
2. Constructing temporary utility tie-ins to maintain operation during construction.
3. Relocating utilities as necessary and performing lead paint and asbestos remediation.
4. Installing a new emergency generator set, worker cooling stations, chiller equipment, makeup air fan units, air intake preheat units, and containment vaults for new fuel storage tanks.
