Background
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Office of the Director, Office of Acquisitions, is seeking to award a Firm-Fixed-Price contract for the acquisition of commercial items. This solicitation is issued as a competitive combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial products or services. The goal is to procure essential laboratory equipment that aligns with existing workflows and systems within the NIH.

Work Details
The contract involves the procurement of four (4) Thermo Fisher Multidrop Combi+ automated reagent dispensers. These are commercial, off-the-shelf instruments that must be procured through authorized distributors. The Multidrop Combi+ is required to ensure full compatibility with existing laboratory automation systems and established workflows within NCATS. Key specifications include:
- Dispensing volume range: 0.5 µL to 2500 µL
- Compatibility with microplates ranging from 6 to 1536 wells and plate heights of 5 to 50 mm
- Minimal dead volume and back-flushing capability
- Full compatibility with existing robotic systems to support high-throughput workflows
- Use of eight-channel detachable, autoclavable dispensing cassettes and a priming vessel compatible with existing Multidrop Combi+ systems
- High precision across the full dispensing volume range
- Capability for column-specific volume dispensing
- High-speed dispensing of microvolumes.

Period of Performance
Delivery should occur 6-8 weeks after order placement.

Place of Performance
NIH/NCATS, 9800 Medical Center Drive, Rockville, MD 20850

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be authorized distributors for Thermo Fisher products as this is a brand-name requirement. The instruments must meet specified technical requirements to ensure compatibility with existing systems.

Incumbent Analysis (see Incumbents section for more detail)
The prior contract 75N93023P01048 awarded to VWR International for a “MULTIDROP COMBI MICROPLATE DISPENSER LIQUID HANDLER” (AMBIS #2182054) suggests an incumbent or closely related prior procurement for the same Thermo Fisher Multidrop Combi liquid handling/dispenser equipment. The current requirement similarly calls for Thermo Fisher Multidrop Combi+ automated reagent dispensers with compatibility to existing lab automation workflows, indicating the new buy may be a continuation or replenishment of the same instrument family used in prior NIH/NCATS operations.
