Description

(i) This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested, and a separate written solicitation will not be issued.
(ii) The solicitation number is 75N98026Q00689. This solicitation is issued as a competitive combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial products or commercial services. The Government intends to award a contract or purchase order resulting from this solicitation using full and open competition.
This acquisition is conducted under the authority of FAR 12.603, Streamlined Solicitation for Commercial Products or Commercial Services, and is not expected to exceed the simplified acquisition threshold.

Background
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Office of the Director, Office of Acquisitions, is seeking to acquire a MaiTai DeepSee Ti:Sapphire laser for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Muscle Energetics Laboratory.

This acquisition aims to restore the operation of a two-photon microscope that is essential for observing living muscle cells in real time. The current laser source has failed and cannot be repaired, leading to a loss of critical imaging capabilities necessary for research into muscle function and related disorders.

Work Details
The contract involves the acquisition of one (1) completely automated, one-box, mode-locked Ti:Sapphire laser source with automated DeepSee dispersion compensation. The laser must meet or exceed the following specifications:
- Optimized for Leica multiphoton microscope models
- Wide tuning range: 690–1040 nm
- Pulse duration < 100 fsec
- CPU controlled with user-friendly Graphical User Interface (GUI)
- Peak power: > 266 kW at 800 nm; > 56 kW at 690 nm; > 150 kW at 710 nm; > 150 kW at 920 nm; > 34 kW at 1040 nm
- High negative Group Velocity Dispersion at all wavelengths
- Continuous wavelength tuning with no re-optimization time
- Real-time excitation fingerprinting in seconds
- Drop-out free operation
- On-board diagnostics for remote service
- Rack-mountable power supply, chiller, and rack accessory
- Full system one-year, unlimited-hours warranty
- Installation and operator training included.

Additionally, this acquisition includes a trade-in of one (1) used Spectra-Physics MaiTai HP DS Ti:Sapphire laser in as-is condition for credit toward the purchase price.
