Background
The solicitation is for a two-phase Design/Build project to replace Overhead Power Line B along Static Road at Kennedy Space Center, Florida. Phase 1 is a Request for Proposal (RFP) to evaluate offerors' Technical Approach and Technical Qualifications. Phase 2 will provide greater detail and include final technical requirements, provisions, and contract clauses for award.

Work Details
The project entails designing and replacing the existing overhead power line B in its entirety along Static Road at Kennedy Space Center. This includes removing wooden poles and replacing them with new concrete poles and power lines designed to Florida Power & Light (FPL) standards, the Florida Building Code, and the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). It also involves the design and removal of underground runs of 15KV PILC cable and replacing them with 15KV EPR type cable, as well as removing Load Break Switches (LBS’s) 40, 41, 42, and 43.
The total power line length is approximately 4.1 miles with around 148 wooden poles to be removed.
The Period of Performance for the construction effort is 490 Calendar Days from Notice to Proceed (NTP).
