Salient Characteristics For Upgrade of Tecniplast Rack Washer and Acquisition of 2 Tecniplast Bedding Dispensers in the Veterinary Medical Unit Background The Veterinary Medical Unit at VA Puget Sound has a requirement for upgrades to and replacement of equipment used to clean and to fill rodent housing cages with fresh bedding. The requested equipment has been approved and supported by VA Office of Research and Development through the LAM (Laboratory Animal Major Equipment) grant mechanism. The Tecniplast rack washer (Tecniplast Model RW900GP, SN 901507) was installed as new equipment in 2012, and is now 14 years old. This washer is key to our facility s function, in use every day of the week to clean cages, cage lids and wire-bar tops, feeders, bottles, enrichment items/cage furniture, cage racks, buckets and food barrels, and carts. For this reason, we need to extend the functionality of the Tecniplast rack washer now in use. A curated list of parts was provided by the Tecniplast technician. The installation of these parts (upgrade) will be performed by our in-house R&D Lab Operations Manager. Equipment that is used to fill the rodent housing cages (an older model Tecniplast Model 9BDS+, SN 321238) must be replaced. We need to acquire 2 stand-alone bedding dispensers (Tecniplast Model UP&DOWN Stand Alone Bedding Dispenser) to replace the poorly functioning existing bedding dispenser and to add a dispenser to a separate facility location where staff have been doing cage setup by hand. Onsite setup and training of bedding dispensers is performed by the vendor. Salient Characteristics Curated Parts List for upgrade/ repair of Tecniplast rack washer (Tecniplast Model RW900GP, SN 901507) Must be OEM parts obtained from Tecniplast, USA Must be packaged per manufacturer requirement Must include shipping in total cost.
