NRC's Radiation Safety/Dosimetry Program
Background
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is a federal regulatory agency responsible for overseeing the safety of nuclear energy and materials. The NRC's mission includes monitoring personnel exposure to ionizing radiation, which is critical for ensuring the safety and health of its employees. This contract aims to support the NRC's Radiation Safety/Dosimetry Program by providing dosimetry services that measure occupational exposure to ionizing radiation for approximately 1,000 personnel annually, utilizing around 2,000 dosimeters per year.

Work Details
The contractor will provide dosimeters, including traditional types such as thermoluminescent or optically stimulated luminescence dosimeters, to measure various types of radiation exposure (beta, gamma, neutron). The contractor will process these dosimeters and provide evaluation reports on occupational exposures. Specific tasks include:

1) Providing dosimeters capable of detecting deep dose equivalent (DDE), lens dose equivalent (LDE), shallow dose equivalent (SDE), and maximum exposed-extremity (ME) doses;

2) Utilizing a web-based portal for managing the dosimetry program;

3) Providing access to occupational exposure reports and data files for the Employee Exposure Database System (EEDS);

4) Ensuring compliance with National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) standards;

5) Attending a kickoff meeting within seven days of contract award; and

6) Providing emergency processing of dosimeters when required.

Period of Performance
The contract is anticipated to commence on March 1, 2026, and will expire on February 28, 2027. There are options for extension through February 28, 2031.

Place of Performance
Deliverables will be provided to various NRC locations including Headquarters in Rockville, Maryland; four regional offices in King of Prussia, PA; Atlanta, GA; Lisle, IL; Arlington, TX; and the Technical Training Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
