Description

This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract and is not a request for quotes. The Department of Veterans Affairs Syracuse VA Medical Center intends to award a Firm Fixed Price (FFP), brand name only, sole source action. Name of Contractor: O.R. Elder Street Address: 1270 Broadway, Suite 401 City, State, Zip: New York, NY 10001 Only the Alcon Centurion can provide both torsional and longitudinal phacoemulsification energy. This is important because different forms of phacoemulsification injury may have different effects on the corneal endothelium and would be relevant to the damage sustained to the cornea. In addition, only the Alcon Centurion can provide active fluidics technology with a bag and pump system to closely monitor the intraocular pressure and maintain anterior chamber volume to prevent inadvertent damage to the cornea.
