STATEMENT OF NEED Ceiling-Mounted Patient Lifts Replacement for 5-North and 5-West Inpatient Units GENERAL: James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, 13000 Bruce B. Downs Blvd, Tampa, Florida 33612, has a requirement for ceiling-mounted patient lifts in two inpatient units to replace outdated patient lifts. The patient lifts will be used for patient transfers and repositioning in bed and will be installed in existing rail systems. BACKGROUND: James A. Haley VA Hospital is soliciting a contractor to furnish all design, site evaluation, labor, materials, equipment, and installation of ceiling-mounted patient care lifts in the existing inpatient units: 5-North and 5-West. Numerous utility systems occupy this space and must be considered when installing new equipment above the ceiling and in the existing patient lift support rails. It is strongly recommended that the contractor perform a thorough site evaluation prior to submitting a proposal. SCOPE: The Contractor shall provide a technical and cost proposal for turn-key services to install ceiling-mounted patient lifts in accordance with this scope of work. This cost proposal shall be for providing new installation and removal/de-installation of LIKO Brand Name Only patient lift units including but not limited to: lift devices, support material, gate transition pieces and all other associated components required for complete, functional installation for ceiling lift in with scale and hand-control based charged ceiling lift systems. This proposal shall also be for installation of the lift systems including but not limited to any required plans, engineering details and documents, tools, labor, testing, training, cleaning supplies, etc. All new lift systems must have a lifting capacity of no less than 507 lbs. Operation of the system must be smooth with no fast or jerky starts and stops. Operation of the system must allow for adequate lifting height allowing for transfer of patient from bed. All lift systems must have the availability to weigh a patient in kilograms and pounds. Existing hangers, Unistrut, or other support components shall not be utilized to support the lift tracks. If additional supports are needed, new supports must be connected directly to building structural components.

Background

The purpose of this contract is to enhance patient transfers and repositioning in bed using new equipment installed in existing rail systems. Work Details
The contractor is required to provide a comprehensive technical and cost proposal for turn-key services that include:
1. Installation of new ceiling-mounted patient lifts with the following specifications:
- LIKO Ceiling Mounted Patient Lift, Motor Package (550 lbs Capacity): 19 units
- LikoScale T400: 19 units
- LIKO Ceiling Mounted Patient Lift, Straight Rail System (1100 lbs Capacity): 8 units
- Installation services: 35 units
2. Removal of existing patient lift units including all associated components.
3. All installations must ensure:
- Lifting capacity of no less than 507 lbs.
- Smooth operation without fast or jerky starts/stops.
- Adequate lifting height for patient transfers.
- Capability to weigh patients in both kilograms and pounds.
4. New supports must be connected directly to building structural components; existing hangers or support components are not permitted.

Period of Performance
Items are to be delivered/installed within 14 – 120 days after receipt of order (ARO).
