Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Procurement, Acquisitions, and Logistics (OALC), Strategic Acquisition Center (SAC) is executing a Justification and Approval for Other than Full and Open Competition. This action is necessary as only one responsible source can satisfy the agency's requirements. The contract is aimed at procuring a Histotripsy System to enhance treatment options for veterans suffering from liver tumors.

Work Details
The contract involves the procurement of the HistoSonics® Edison™ Histotripsy System, which is the only FDA-approved non-invasive, non-ionizing, and non-thermal ablation technology capable of destroying tissue at a sub-cellular level. The system is indicated for the non-invasive destruction of liver tumors, including unresectable liver tumors, using focused ultrasound. The estimated value of the contract is $90,685,188.95. The Edison™ system will be provided by Fidelis Sustainability Distribution (FSD), which is the sole authorized reseller of this equipment.
