Notice of Intent to Sole Source Zeiss Forum - Ophthalmic Image Digitalization System   2

This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract and is not a request for quotes. The Department of Veterans Affairs on behalf of the Samuel S. Stratton VA Medical Center intend to award a Firm Fixed Price (FFP), sole source action to an SBA verified Small Business (SB). This action shall be awarded under FAR Part 13 and in compliance with posting requirements as written in FAR part 5. Name of Contractor: Proaim Americas LLC Street Address: 658 South Columbus Street City, State, Zip: Alexandria, VA 22314 The objective of this action is to procure a Zeiss Forum Ophthalmic Image Digitalization System as detailed below. In accordance with FAR Part 13.106-1(b), it has been determined that only one source is reasonably available and therefore restricts this requirement to a brand name only procurement due to proprietary constraints. Alternate equal products have been reviewed and technically rejected for compatibility issues with existing Zeiss units; Field Analyzer (HFA 3), ZEISS Cirrus HD-OCT, and ZEISS CLARUS Fundus Camera. Failure to procure Zeiss brand would require a complete replacement of the existing Carl Zeiss FORUM infrastructure in place. PROAIM Americas, LLC. has been identified by the Manufacturer, Carl Zeiss Meditec as the sole distributor, installer and trainer. Veterans Health Administration prohibits the use of gray market items in their Medical Centers.
