Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a vendor to supply two insufflation systems to enhance CT virtual colonoscopy procedures at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. The current insufflation systems have reached the end of their lifecycle, necessitating replacement to ensure operational efficiency and continuity of patient care.

Work Details
The contract requires the following items:
- Insufflation systems for virtual colonoscopy (2 units)
- High-pressure hose and yoke (2 units)
- Rolling cart (2 units)
- Administration sets (24 each per system), which include: 20 Fr small catheter with retention cuff, hydrophobic filter, 100 mL effluent container, and connector.

Salient characteristics include:
- Use of standard medical-grade CO₂ cylinders (USP D or E size)
- Cart with storage for CO₂ cylinders and holder for spare administration sets
- Automatic gas replacement during procedures for adequate distention
- Real-time visual display of pressure and volume
- Visual and audible alerts for low CO₂ supply
- Touch-screen user interface
- Automation of the insufflation process for consistent bowel distention and patient comfort
- Redundant pressure-relief safety features and automatic flow-stop capability to prevent over-insufflation.
