Description

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office (NCO) 6, intends to enter into a sole source procurement with Veteran Healthcare Supply Solutions (VHSS), 2615 Port Industrial Drive Jacksonville, FL 32226. The procurement is for Ferralert Halo II Plus Ferromagnetic Portable Detector Model H22+. For the Richmond VAMC Radiology Department to replace end of life/aging detectors. This acquisition is for a firm-fixed-price, one-time buy. Equipment to be purchased: Two (2) FerrAlert Halo II Plus: Ferromagnetic Portal Detector, Model H22+ (Adjustable width 25 - 54"). NAICS code 339112 Surgical and Medical Instrument Manufacturing applies to this procurement. The size standard is 1,000 Employees. The proposed contract action is for supplies for which the Government intends to procure from one source under the authority of FAR Overhaul 12.102(a). This notice of intent is NOT a request for quotation. Interested parties who believe they can meet this requirement are to submit information to: Keicha.Passley@va.gov , Contract Specialist. Telephone inquiries will not be accepted. Responses must be received no later than 8:00 am, EST on July 8, 2026. All information shall be furnished at no cost or obligation to the Government. Gray market items are Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) goods sold through unauthorized channels in direct competition with authorized distributors. This procurement is for new OEM items only. No remanufacture or gray market items will be acceptable as replacement parts. Vendors claiming to provide the above products shall be an OEM authorized dealer, authorized distributors, or authorized reseller for the proposed alternate equipment necessary for this procurement, verified by an authorization letter or other documents from the OEM, such that the OEM s warranty and service are provided and maintained by the OEM. All software licensing, warranty and service associated with the equipment and/or services contracts for maintenance of equipment shall be in accordance with the OEM terms and conditions. No solicitation will be made available. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the government not to complete this proposed contract based upon responses to the notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. *Please see Salient Characteristics below Salient Characteristics: Functions to be performed; Ferromagnetic detectors that are attached to the entry way outside of the MRI scanner room that detect ferromagnetic threats that may enter Zone IV. The primary purpose of ferromagnetic detectors is to prevent ferromagnetic objects from entering Zone III (controlled access area) and Zone IV (MRI scanner room), where they can become projectiles due to the powerful magnetic field. These detectors enhance patient and staff safety by identifying potentially hazardous ferromagnetic materials, such as certain medical implants, tools, and personal items. Performance required; System must satisfy National VA MRI Directive 1105.05 pg. 13. System must satisfy American College of Radiology manual on MR Safety. Must provide a pre warning on approach to the magnet room. System must reduce alarm fatigue which is recommended by The Joint Commission. System must not have alarms on the door which include the opening and closing of the door, to prevent constant alarm sounding which lead to alarm fatigue. System must only alarm on entry into the magnet and not alarm on exit. Non-ferromagnetic material must not activate the alarms. System must have both audio and visual signals that will activate on detection of ferromagnetic materials. Essential physical characteristics; Dimensions (if applicable) The system must have a minimum height of 83 . The width of the system should be specific to the width of the current entryway door into the magnet room, which must be wide enough for stretcher, ADA compliant. The power supply must be a minimum of 100 volts ac power and a maximum of 240 volts ac power.
