Background
The Iowa City VA Health Care System (ICVAHCS) is seeking to replace 65% of its existing nurse call system, which has become obsolete and difficult to support due to limited availability of replacement parts. Following a total failure of the remaining Ascom nurse call infrastructure due to internal flooding, approximately 65% of the facility is currently without a fully functional nurse call system. This includes critical areas such as inpatient wards, operating rooms, and outpatient clinics.

The contract aims to restore safe and reliable patient communication capabilities throughout ICVAHCS by upgrading to the Rauland Responder 5 Nurse Call System.

Work Details
The contractor will provide all labor, materials, equipment, and repair plans necessary for the replacement of the existing Ascom nurse call system with the Rauland Responder 5 system. Key tasks include:
- Providing head end cabinets and equipment.
- Installing, terminating, programming, and testing internal head end equipment and associated cabling.
- Installing field devices and required system cabling.
- Demolishing existing equipment while preserving current system functionality.
- Programming and configuring Rauland R5ware and R5 software per design requirements.
- Providing a new stand-alone server hardware with licensing for integration with Vocera.
- Delivering electronic documentation detailing device locations on CAD drawings.
- Supplying spare equipment for future needs.

The contract also requires daily performance logs, safety compliance, installation by the contractor, training for staff during implementation, and a minimum one-year warranty on products.
