648-24-103 Replace Sewer Riser   6

Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is undertaking a project to replace deteriorated sewer lines at the Portland VA Medical Center. The goal of this contract is to ensure the proper functioning of the sewer system by replacing the 6” sewer drain from the second through the fifth floors and the 4” drain line at the basement level.

This project is a resolicitation from a previous solicitation (36C26024R0079).

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for:

1. Coordinating and developing an effective sewer drain bypass to facilitate work on the existing 6” sewer drain, with core drilling permitted.
2. Demolishing and removing the existing 6” Sewer Drain and Y-fittings from the second to fifth floors, as well as the existing 4” drain line in the basement (B2 ceiling space).
3. Furnishing and installing new 6” Sewer Drain and Y-fittings from the second to fifth floors, along with a corrosion-resistant cast iron 4” drain line and Y-fittings in the basement (B2 ceiling space).
4. Adding bracing to newly installed pipes for support against axial and lateral deflection or movement.
5. Performing appropriate testing to verify that work meets acceptable standards.

Period of Performance
The entire work must be completed within 90 calendar days, including site cleanup and proper testing of new equipment. The contractor must commence work within 10 calendar days after receiving Notice to Proceed.
