631-19-002 Upgrade Steam Distribution System Phase 2 Industry Day

Background
The contract is issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for the Upgrade Steam Distribution System Phase 2 project. The goal of this contract is to enhance the steam distribution system across multiple buildings, ensuring improved functionality and safety.

The Industry Day aims to gather insights from contractors regarding challenges, cost drivers, and potential value engineering ideas related to the project.

Work Details
The work involves the removal and upgrade of the steam distribution system in Buildings 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 15, and 16. Tasks include:
- Removal of existing structures;
- New construction as specified in the drawings;
- Power distribution to new system components;
- Upgrades or connections to the existing campus Building Management System (BMS);
- Removal of hazardous materials such as asbestos and lead paint;
- Construction of fire-rated containment and Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) barriers in areas undergoing demolition, asbestos abatement, lead removal, and new construction.

The construction projects will take place at various locations within the VA facility at 421 North Main Street, Leeds, MA 01053.
