Background

Work Details
The project involves replacing the existing switchgear, transfer switch, generator, transformer, and ancillary devices at Building 415 of the Tomah VA Medical Center. The existing equipment is outdated and undersized, posing a risk to essential services on campus. The scope includes:
- Replacement of electrical switchgear from the 1970s
- Installation of a new transfer switch
- Replacement of an undersized generator (installed in 2009)
- Replacement of an undersized transformer (installed in 2016)
- Ensuring all work complies with current state and federal codes
- Providing temporary equipment and services during construction
- Maintaining red line drawings throughout the project
- Diverting and tracking recyclable construction waste.

Additional specifications include:
- A professional construction scheduler must be provided by the General Contractor.
- Participation in system commissioning activities for various systems including DDC/BAS, fire alarm, plumbing, etc.
- All submittals must be reviewed by quality control personnel before submission to the VA.
