DESCRIPTION/SPECIFICATIONS

PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENT

C.1 PROJECT TITLE: Procurement of 5B Uranium Hexafluoride (UF6) Cylinders and Outer

Protective Packaging.

C.2 BACKGROUND: The Office of Nuclear Energy (NE) is sponsoring a three-year

demonstration of the production of High-Assay, Low Enriched Uranium (HALEU),

19.75% weight percent U-235. As part of that sponsorship, NE is committed to provide

the UF6 cylinders that will be used to store the HALEU produced by the demonstration.

The cylinders will be needed on-site at the HALEU demonstration facility in Piketon,

Ohio. Further, in order to enable off-site shipment of the filled UF6 cylinders, NE will

also procure outer protective packages licensed to carry/transport filled 5B UF6 cylinders

enriched to 19.75 weight percent U-235.

C.3 SCOPE: A total of fourteen (14) 5B UF6 cylinders with valves installed and two (2) outer

protective packages are required to be provided in accordance with ANSI standards and

NRC requirements.

C.4 APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS: The fourteen (14) 5B UF6 cylinders are required to be

fabricated and prepared according to ANSI N14.1 (2012), Uranium Hexafluoride

Packaging for Transport, and the normative references contained therein. The 5B

cylinders shall be provided with the valves installed in accordance with ANSI N14.1

(2012) and with special attention to the cleaning and drying requirements of ANSI

N14.1 (2012) Appendix A. The government requires the certifications listed in ANSI

N14.1 (2012). The two (2) outer protective packages will be designed, fabricated, and

certified in accordance with the requirements in ANSI N14.1 (2012) and NRC

requirements for such packages.

C.5 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: The contractor shall provide informational

documents and images/drawings of the product being proposed. The contractor shall

provide all documentation specified in ANSI N14.1 covering the design, fabrication, and

testing of the cylinders (with valves) and the outer protective packages.
