YELL - Hot Mix Asphalt - Sources Sought   2

Background
The National Park Service (NPS) is part of the United States Department of the Interior and is responsible for managing national parks, monuments, and other conservation areas. The NPS aims to preserve the natural and cultural resources of these areas while providing safe access for visitors.

Yellowstone National Park (YELL) conducts annual road repairs to ensure safety for visitors and staff, necessitating the procurement of hot mix asphalt. This sources sought notice is issued to gather information for market research and planning purposes regarding the provision of hot mix asphalt services.

Work Details
The contractor will provide approximately 6,300 tons of hot mix asphalt that meets specific requirements. The asphalt must consist of PG58-34 oil with a 1% Type 3 (lime) anti-strip additive, using aggregate that meets a ½” gradation as specified in tables 703-4, 703-5, and table 703.07 Asphalt Concrete Aggregate.

The mix should achieve 4% air voids with all material passing through a ¾” inch sieve. The mobile asphalt mixing plant must be capable of producing 120 tons per hour under suitable weather conditions for paving. The contractor is responsible for mobilization/demobilization of the plant and must submit a mix design for approval prior to production.

Deliveries will primarily occur Monday through Thursday, with potential Friday and Saturday deliveries upon approval.
