Background
The Birmingham VA Medical Center (BVAMC) is issuing this contract for the renovation of the Sterile Processing Service (SPS) space located on the ground floor of the hospital, which serves military veterans in north central Alabama.

The project aims to provide a fully functional SPS following a previous phase of demolition that was completed in April 2023. This contract will focus on the second phase of construction.

Work Details
The contractor is required to provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to complete the Birmingham SPS Phase II renovation as per the contract drawings and specifications dated January 28, 2025.

Specific tasks include:
1. Renovation of three existing cart lifts serving the SPS area, including complete demolition and replacement as specified in '14 21 11 TRACTION CARTLIFT'. All work must comply with local, state, and federal codes.

Work within cart lift lobby rooms must be contained within ICRA level 4 barriers to allow for hospital material storage. The renovation includes:
a. Lift T-1 Clean – Mechanical Room 9304D – Automatic Traction
b. Lift T-2 Soiled – Mechanical Room 9304D – Automatic Traction
c. Lift T-3 Clean – Mechanical Room 5D103A – Automatic Traction. The contractor must adhere to VA specifications, design guides, infection control guidelines, and all applicable codes throughout the project.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for this contract will be 365 calendar days from the date of notice to proceed.
