508 Compliance Remediation Services

Background
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is committed to protecting human and animal health. CVM aims to provide the public with access to accurate, timely, and easy-to-understand information on regulated products, agency policies, and programs.
Documents placed on FDA’s website must be in compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. Section 508 requires that FDA’s electronic and information technology (EIT) is accessible to people with disabilities. It ensures that Federal employees with disabilities are able to use EIT to do their jobs and that private citizens with disabilities seeking information from Federal sources can utilize IT to access government information.

Work Details
The contractor is required to provide remediation services for WORD, PDF, and Excel records, which may or may not contain redactions and may or may not be images, provided by CVM’s Office of Surveillance and Compliance (OSC) and Office of the Center Director (OD) for Section 508 compliance.
The contractor is responsible for the items listed in U.S. Department of Health & Human Services’ (HHS) 508 Accessibility Checklist, which includes accessibility and usability guidelines.
