NEW: Soil Remediation Service Building 53

Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs is issuing a solicitation for soil remediation services at Building 53 of the Amarillo VA Medical Center. The goal of this contract is to address contamination issues in compliance with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) standards. The agency aims to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff by remediating contaminated soil effectively.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide soil remediation services, which include:
- Project Initiation and Planning: Develop a detailed remediation plan compliant with TCEQ standards, obtain necessary permits, and notify TCEQ with an initial incident report.

- Site Assessment: Conduct assessments to determine contamination extent, collect soil samples, and perform laboratory analyses.

- Health and Safety Planning: Create a Health and Safety Plan (HASP) to protect workers and residents, ensuring proper handling of contaminated materials.

- Excavation and Removal: Excavate contaminated soil, monitor air quality, and use containment methods during excavation.

- Soil Treatment and Disposal: Treat contaminated soil on-site if feasible, or transport untreated soil to an approved facility.

- Backfilling and Site Restoration: Restore the excavation site with clean fill material and restore disturbed vegetation.

- Post-Remediation Monitoring: Conduct post-remediation sampling to ensure compliance with TCEQ standards.

- Reporting: Prepare a comprehensive remediation report detailing project background, assessment findings, remediation activities, health and safety measures taken, post-remediation results, and compliance confirmation.

The services will be performed at the Amarillo VA Medical Center located at 6010 W. Amarillo Blvd., Amarillo, Texas 79106.
