Background
The VA Loma Linda Healthcare System has a requirement for weed control services to be performed weekly throughout the campus. The purpose of this contract is to ensure that the VA Loma Linda campus is a weed-free campus. The hospital campus pavements, courtyards, library roof, all grounds, and sidewalks need herbicide applied weekly to control the emerging weeds and maintain the grounds' appearance. The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, supplies, tools, and equipment to apply herbicide to approximately 20 acres, asphalt parking spaces and sidewalks, indoor courtyards, and the library roof. Services performed shall conform to industry standards and the provided statement of work (SOW).

Work Details
The specific tasks include mechanically knocking down tall weeds prior to applying herbicide, posting signs where herbicide is being applied, retaining records of areas where herbicide was applied and quantity of herbicide applied to submit to the Maintenance and Operations Chief or VA COR on a quarterly basis, providing Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for review and keeping a copy onsite for the applicator, ensuring secondary containment for herbicide brought onsite, cleaning up spills immediately and preventing runoff of herbicide, obtaining permission to use suggested herbicide which should be on the Department of Defense (DOD) approved herbicide list, avoiding applying herbicide on days with excessive wind.
The period of performance includes one base year beginning on 12-11-2023 and ending on 12-10-2024. There are also four option years available with respective periods of performance: Option 1 begins on 12-11-2024 and ends on 12-10-2025; Option 2 begins on 12-11-2025 and ends on 12-10-2026; Option 3 begins on 12-11-2026 and ends on 12-10-2027; Option 4 begins on 12-11-2027 and ends on 12-10-2028.
