Description

OUSD (R&E) CRITICAL TECHNOLOGY AREA(S): Mission Readiness & Disaster Preparedness; Sustainment & Logistics The technology within this topic is restricted under the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), 22 CFR Parts 120-130, which controls the export and import of defense-related material and services, including export of sensitive technical data, or the Export Administration Regulation (EAR), 15 CFR Parts 730-774, which controls dual use items. Offerors must disclose any proposed use of foreign nationals (FNs), their country(ies) of origin, the type of visa or work permit possessed, and the statement of work (SOW) tasks intended for accomplishment by the FN(s) in accordance with the Announcement. Offerors are advised foreign nationals proposed to perform on this topic may be restricted due to the technical data under US Export Control Laws. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this effort is to add needed capability to the Common Munitions Built-In Test/Reprogramming Equipment (CMBRE). This is a common Air Force tester that is used across multiple platforms. Currently the tester has a capability gap for testing and fault isolation of specific Alternate Mission Equipment (BRU-61B/A) on advanced airframes, including the F-35. Integrating a 270 VDC test capability into this tester would allow the CMBRE to support advanced airframes and Alternate Mission Equipment (AME) without the need for unique support equipment and additional logistics footprint. DESCRIPTION: The initial work would involve analysis of the existing CMBRE functional specifications and interfaces and a technology survey of new or existing high DC voltage power supply technology. A feasibility study would then be developed for an integrated solution. The study would include any changes to form factor or auxiliary equipment needed for the CMBRE system. Once a technology/integration solution is identified, a Phase II effort would include detailed design and prototyping of the new solution. PHASE I: Phase I will involve analysis of the existing CMBRE functional specifications and interfaces and existing or new high DC voltage power supply technology. A feasibility study would be developed for an integrated solution. PHASE II: For Phase II, awardee(s) will be expected to develop a detailed design and prototype based on the analysis and preliminary design conducted in Phase I. Depending on the solution, this may involve delivery of a CMBRE system for modification as GFE, or access to one for developmental testing and design validation. PHASE III DUAL USE APPLICATIONS: Phase III would include operational testing, as well as integration, production and tech data/tech order updates. REFERENCES: 1. 270V CMBRE AF1067 2.
