The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is conducting market research to determine the availability of qualified businesses capable of providing repair services for a marine boat trailer as described in the attached statement of work. This sources sought announcement is not a request for quote or proposal and the Government is not committed to award of a purchase order or contract pursuant to this announcement. The information resulting from this market research is simply for planning purposes to assist the Government in determining its acquisition strategy. The Government will not pay for any costs incurred in the preparation of information for responding to this notice.
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code 336611 Ship Building and Repairing and associated size standard 1300 employees apply to this announcement.
All responsible sources may submit a capability statement detailing the ability of their service to meet the statement of work included with this announcement.
Responses to this announcement shall only be accepted through electronic mail addressed to aberry@usgs.gov and must be uploaded and received in their entirety no later than 08/08/2025 by 0500 PD Responses submitted by hard copy shall not be accepted or considered.

Background
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is conducting market research to identify qualified businesses capable of providing repair services for a marine boat trailer. This initiative aims to restore the structural integrity and improve the reliability and safety of a 10-year-old oversized marine boat trailer used for scientific operations. The trailer has suffered from accelerated component degradation due to frequent immersion in saltwater and heavy load stress, necessitating a comprehensive rebuild to avoid safety hazards and ensure efficient deployment of mission-critical equipment.

Work Details
The contractor shall perform a complete rebuild of the oversized marine boat trailer, which includes:
- **Axles**: Replace existing axles with three (3) new 10,000 lb capacity, marine-rated, corrosion-resistant axles.
- **Braking System**: Inspect and replace worn or degraded brake components.
- **Wheels and Tires**: Inspect for integrity and replace any unsuitable wheels or tires.
- **Bearings and Hubs**: Inspect and replace with marine-grade sealed bearings if necessary.
- **Suspension Components**: Inspect and replace any components that do not meet performance standards.
- **Electrical System**: Inspect wiring and lighting; replace as needed for DOT compliance.
- **Bunks and Hull Support Structures**: Inspect and replace compromised components.
- **Safety Equipment**: Inspect winch and safety chains; replace defective parts as necessary.
- **Coatings and Corrosion Protection**: Strip and reapply protective coatings where needed.

90 calendar days from contract award.

Place of Performance
All rebuild work will be performed at the contractor’s facility with delivery to the USGS Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center in Santa Cruz, CA.
