Description

NASA/NSSC has a requirement for 2025 Service Contract for Thermo Scientific, Talos F200-S.
NASA/NSSC intends to issue a sole source contract to FEI COMPANY, 5350, North East Dawson Creek
Drive, Hillsboro, Oregon 97124-5793 under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i). It has been determined that
FEI COMPANY is the sole provider of 2025 Service Contract for Thermo Scientific, Talos F200-S.
NASA/NSSC will be the procuring center for this effort. Performance will be located at NASA/ Glenn
Research Center (GRC).
The Government intends to acquire commercial items and services using the provisions, clauses and procedures
prescribed in FAR Part 12 and FAR Part 13.
The NAICS Code for this procurement is 811210
Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the
identified point of contact not later than 4:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on 8/11/2025. Such
capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this
procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on
a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the
government.
Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.

Background
NASA/NSSC is issuing a sole source contract for the 2025 Service Contract for Thermo Scientific, Talos F200-S. The contract will be awarded to FEI COMPANY, the sole provider of the required services. NASA/NSSC's mission is to procure commercial items and services to support their operations, with the Glenn Research Center (GRC) being the performance location.

Work Details
The Contractor shall provide maintenance to maintain original equipment performance specifications on a FEI Talos F200S Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope (STEM) serial number D6342. This includes: one planned preventive maintenance inspection per year; modifications, repairs, and/or adjustments to correct deviations from manufacturer’s performance specifications; major parts coverage including system software or software upgrades; unlimited emergency service visits and unlimited technical phone support during regular business hours (8:00 am - 5:00 pm); and a commitment to respond within two working days for breakdowns making the instruments inoperable.

Basic maintenance tasks may be conducted by government personnel under contractor direction, but successful repairs remain the contractor's responsibility. All services must be performed by factory-trained service engineers and include labor, travel, living expenses, and replacement of defective components. Exclusions include third-party software updates (if no charges), system consumables except FEG source, calibration samples, wearable vacuum parts, sample grids, disposables, apertures, and small tooling.
