2025 MAINSAIL and ATOMATA Industry Day

Background
The United States Air Force’s Air Force Research Lab Sensors Directorate is conducting the MAINSAIL and ATOMATA Industry Day event to enhance maritime domain awareness (MDA) capabilities and improve air-to-air combat identification performance.

The goal of the contract is to develop and integrate new technologies for maritime security and situational awareness, as well as to highlight opportunities for industry involvement in these programs.

Work Details
The MAINSAIL program focuses on advancing MDA capabilities to identify and localize maritime targets using overhead imagery. Key objectives include:
1) leveraging machine learning ATR models for EO and SAR imagery,
2) utilizing non-imagery contextual information to predict future locations,
3) employing modern data structures with ontological support, and
4) associating target ATR with contextual data for location prediction.

The architecture will be demonstrated through software-in-the-loop scenario models. The ATOMATA program aims to enhance air-to-air combat identification using feature fusion algorithms, focusing on distributed operations with objectives such as:
1) developing tracking and sensor resource management algorithms,
2) exploring distributed feature fusion options,
3) conducting experiments on combat identification performance impacts,
4) supporting multi-platform tracking algorithm development, and
5) fostering collaboration across ATOMATA components.

The Industry Day event will take place over two days on February 11-12, 2025.
