Close-In Weapon System (CIWS)

The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) intends to issue a solicitation to Raytheon Company/Raytheon Missile Systems (RMS) of Tucson, AZ, P.O. Box 11338, Tucson, AZ 85734-1337 for procurement, on a sole source basis, of production requirements for FY13/14 for the following supplies: MK 15 CIWS Phalanx Block 1B BL2 upgrade kits and conversions, including Radar Upgrade Kits; MK 15 Mod 29 CIWS Land-Based Phalanx Weapon Systems (LPWS) overhauls; MK 15 Mod 29 CIWS LPWS hardware product improvement, ancillary equipment, spares, and provisioned item orders (PIO); MK 15 Mod 31 CIWS SeaRAM upgrade kits and conversions; MK 15 CIWS hardware product improvements; MK 15 CIWS ancillary equipment, spares, and PIO; and, MK 15 CIWS Class A Overhauls. RMS is the only qualified domestic producer of MK 15 Phalanx and SeaRAM Close-in Weapon Systems and is the only source known to possess the requisite knowledge and expertise to meet DoD requirements. MK 15 CIWS is highly complex and would require substantial investment in time and money to qualify additional sources. Please address questions concerning subcontracting opportunities to RMS.
