Description
Mission impact statement: Project is needed in order to replace existing pneumatic type fenders with durable foam filled fenders. Over the past year we have had 6 pneumatic fenders rupture. Should the fenders continue to fail without being replaced ships will no longer be able to moor on Bravo15-16. Bravo15-16 are two of the four repair births located on Pearl Harbor.
SOW:
Procure, deliver and install (16) new foam filled fenders. Fenders will be floating, foam filled, net-less type fenders with a 10ft diameter and a 18ft length.
Deliver and install (2) chain assemblies per fender.
-10ft diameter x 18ft long ocean guard net-less foam filled fenders
-Energy absorption (60% compression) - 2,390ft Kips
-Reaction force (when EA is achieved) - 889 Kips
-End pull-through strength- 70 kips
-End fitting to accept 2-1/2" shackle

-Galvanized chain, open-link 2-1/2"
-15 links per side
-Galvanized, 2" shackle (Chain to fender)
-Galvanized, 1-1/2 shackle (Chain to piling)
Maintenance requirements Pneumatic vs Foam filled fenders:
-Pneumatic Fenders: Require cleaning (annual), pop-test of the installed relief valve (triennial). Life expectancy is 10 years.
-Foam filled: cleaning (annual). life expectancy is 10 years.
