Overview
Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) requires a programmable microwave signal generator for performing electron spin resonance (ESR) experiments with an ultra-high vacuum (UHV) scanning probe system (SPM). Measuring and manipulating the quantum state properties of electron spin systems is a critical part of the NIST mission in quantum information science. To fulfill this requirement, NIST requires a programmable microwave signal generator that will provide the necessary approximately 1-40 GHz microwave magnetic field to induce ESR transitions The microwave signal generator must be compatible with and exactly replaceable with an existing Keysight E8267D microwave generator.
